It is with immense pride and excitement that I welcome you to the 22nd Ireland Network Chicago Ball. Tonight, we honor the vibrant spirit, camaraderie, and cultural richness of Chicago’s Irish community. Whether you’ve joined us from down the street, across the country, or over from the Emerald Isle, your presence elevates this celebration. Together, we reflect on our heritage, strengthen friendships old and new, and create memories that last well beyond closing time.

In my second and final year as president, it is a privilege to host our annual Ball and continue the proud INC tradition. As a not‑for‑profit and one of Chicago’s largest Irish‑affiliated networks, the Ireland Network connects newcomers and established professionals through social, cultural, and charitable initiatives. Chicago’s blend of Irish heritage and global energy makes it a remarkable home for our community, and a perfect place to keep the kettle on and the conversations going.

My sincere thanks to our Executive Committee for the dedication and hard work that bring this night to life. Your pride in serving our community shows in every detail. A special thank you to the team at The Drake Hotel, your hospitality and attention to detail set the standard year after year. We’re grateful for your partnership.

This has been another record‑breaking year for INC, exceptional achievements, incredible moments, and a landmark chapter for our organization. A key milestone was expanding our leadership team with the creation of Vice President, we are delighted to welcome Meghan Lee to the role. Her unwavering support, dedication, and of course, her banter keeps spirits high and the work moving. We are very lucky to have her.

I also extend sincere thanks to the Irish Government, whose support through the Emigrant Support Programme plays a vital role in our work. Special gratitude to Consul General Brian Cahalane, Vice Consul Padraig Manning, and the entire consulate team for steadfast support and belief in our mission. Your partnership strengthens our work and deepens the connection we proudly share.

As always, we will host a raffle tonight, with all proceeds supporting Irish Community Services and Concern Worldwide. Thanks to our generous donors, there are fantastic prizes up for grabs, may luck be on your side (and if not, there’s always the dance floor).

Tonight, we have the honor of presenting the IN Spirit Award to Vaughan Hospitality Group, whose contributions have strengthened our community for over 25 years, providing the backdrop for countless moments of Irish culture, tradition, and, of course, a great pint. Their long‑standing commitment to caring for their team, supporting others, and fostering community spirit exemplifies this award. They have welcomed and employed hundreds of J1 visa students over the years, creating unforgettable memories and deepening the bond between Ireland and Chicago. Their leadership, generosity, and loyalty make them profoundly deserving, we are thrilled to celebrate them tonight.

For now, enjoy the atmosphere and make the most of the night we’ve planned. Let’s make it one to remember, have a wonderful time, and don’t forget to hit the dance floor. If you see me out there, I will be pretending to know what I’m doing!
